Re: taking the head off ... crankshaft pulley bit

Yeah sorry, not making myself clear. Will's not here at the moment and asked me to post.

At moment he's trying to get the head off. He's got the cambelt cover off and the, what I'd call, the "head cover" so now he wants to get the head off so he can inspect the gasket and underneath of head and ...

Ha, we have blown the head gasket after all, and not in May when it first did its overheat/lose water twice on journey cambridge to newbury but long before that. bummer.

Thought about it ... garage did mot in Feb and noted "antifreeze mixture X %". Kind of them to check, but not part of MOT. Since ...

intermittent overheating solved

Our Bongo's had an intermittent overheating with coolant loss over last couple of weeks, since we did an oil and filter change... (there's a clue there).

First we suspected the thermostat. Ordered and fitted new one, bled it all. Away we went.

You may have spotted us parked-up in a sideroad in ...

Trying to clear airlock in cooling system

Hubby says: I've followed procedure in the manual but bottom hose still not getting warm. Any suggestions please?

Water coming out is very rusty so we suspect there's been an airlock for a while ... hence why it's been losing water and the heater stopped working.

My next step would be to try ...

Thanks for the replies. Hubby got one from the Plymouth place recommended by Dave Edwards. It's arrived today so he'll be busy tonight!

Do all Bongo's have the same alternator?
If so what make/model is it?

Hubby's asked me to source some brushes but I don't have the alternator here to look at.

Autostart (?) problem

Had our P-reg Bongo for 2 years. It came with an Autostart fitted which we've left well-alone while it works. Consists of small box on cable (box is loose and lives on CD shelf) called BE TIME 325 whcih has 3 red buttons labelled warm, power and turbo. For past 2 years it's just shown fault (red ...

towing capacity of a Bongo

What is the towing capacity of a Bongo please?

My friend is so impressed by ours, and its price(!) that she would like to ditch her ancient horsebox-lorry and her husband's car and buy a Bongo and horsetrailer instead...
