Re: Glow plug light flashing

It is my suspicion that the ECU has changed quite a lot over the years, it started of as two separate boxes, mounted on each other, then has combined. I suspect but don't have a means of proving it that the unit has slowly reduced down in size as the processors became more flexible that on some ...

Re: Gas bottle storage

UPDATE: I have ordered a small gas locker to fit a campingaz 907 bottle, which should fit nicely in my cupboard. I haven't figured out the drop-out vent yet, but I'll cross that bridge when it comes to it. I think the gas locker already has the hole for it but doesn't come with the actual vent, so I ...

Re: Glow plug light flashing

Have you referred to the diagrams for bolts and spacers? https://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/code=5390A&cat=a2ajra0a&vin=&imgno=.html

I didn't even know that existed, but I will look through it and take note of what bits I need. Thanks :D I really do need to sort this flashing glow plug ...

Re: Solar panels

If you glue it to the roof then the panel has no ventilation on the rear of it and its efficiency will fall by 20-30% as the rear of the panel heats up.
Much better to arrange direct ventilation to the rear of the panel so that air can circulate (when static) and prevent the loss of efficiency and ...

Re: Solar panels

I ended up going for a 160w semi-flexi HPBC panel, from Voltanic.solar :D From my research it seemed to be the most wattage that I could fit on my roof (in a single panel) without blocking the skylight like most people do. They recommended securing it with Sikaflex 522 which I also bought from them ...

Re: Stereo ignition feed

The constant +12v is from the top row far left fuse 10 Amp, and the Ignition switched Aux feed for radio and several other things is top row far right 15 Amp. Its normal to remove the fuses and extend the lower connection across to the LB, along with the two sets of blinds feed which are again top ...

Stereo ignition feed

My bongo never had a stereo fitted when I got it and I'm only just getting around to fitting one, but wasn't getting any power at all to the stereo...Turns out that the fuse was removed for the constant 12v, and that power was being used for the coolant alarm instead. Got that side of things sorted ...

Re: Glow plug light flashing

If the under tray isn't on then road muck/spray etc hits the hot engine and smells I believe, also when the undertray is on it deadens the road noise but also funnels the air thru the engine housing and then it gets sucked out the back so less smells to creep up towards the seat seals that can ...

Re: Glow plug light flashing

UPDATE: The light is still flashing. Luckily it didn't come up on the MOT so it is now road legal and I have driven it quite a bit since, but clearly there is still a problem there. It seems to drive fine from what I can tell (never driven a Bongo before), so it's not an obvious problem which doesn ...

Re: AFT roof seal

No I don't believe there is an identical seal on the market :-(
The one off my old roof is as below;

As you say there are others available but they all have a larger section outside the roof rather than the seal being inside alone.

I'm not sure if my current one is original ...

AFT roof seal

I need to remove the seal which is attached to the AFT roof and seals it to the top of the van, but my current one looks very old and brittle...Is there a bongo specific one that I can get to replace it? I've seen loads of different universal ones that will work, but none of them look anything like ...

Re: Gas bottle storage

Hi. How did you solve the ventilation and safety issue in that niche? I'm thinking about such an arrangement myself and looking for a reliable solution.

I am actively still looking in to this myself. I forgot to take measurements for a gas locker last time I was with my Bongo (currently being ...

Re: Gas bottle storage

Mine is the simple surface mount style, hole drilled thru flooring and chassis below and then two screws. Mine however is a side conversion with the gas bottle accessed via rear door into the offside side cupboard with its own door. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/KxMAAOSwtCJdJd4Y/s-l1600.webp

Re: Gas bottle storage

I would think there is more chance of the internal valve in the bottle leaking due to a bit of grit getting in with lots of connecting/unconnecting going on. On mine the bottle is screwed on once and the external valve shut-off is used to control flow so no parts of the gas flow piping are ever ...

Oh yes https://www.facebook.com/groups/2529055732/?multi_permalinks=10162766711980733

Yes I did :D Just getting as many links/ideas as possible, then I'll measure my roof again when I'm next with my Bongo (I took some ...
