Re: 2.0l petrol - Engine cut out - No warning

Kit was ordered from BongoSpares.
Staff there were nothing shy of awesome, offering huge benefits of their experience. This saved me a lot of money and a lot of trouble...

My local mechanic fitted the replacement belts and water pump, set the timing, but still no luck. At this point I received the ...

Thank you all for your reads/responses.
I'm likely going to order the kit from Bongospares.

Re: 2.0l petrol - Engine cut out - No warning

Since my ownership, maintenance has been good. Annual servicing with oil and filter changes.

She's only done 87.000miles(ish), but the belt would I'm sure be overdue. For some reason, I had it in my head that the cambelt was changed just before I bought her (2001), but I now realise that must have ...

2.0l petrol - Engine cut out - No warning

Hi again all.

As I was driving my usual steady style today, the engine cut out with no warning nor unusual sounds, and refused to restart.

AA slowly towed me to my local garage (deals with quite a few Bongos) who've only had time for a very quick look, but advised me that the rotor arm isn't ...

Re: 2l Petrol Starting Issue

I've bought a rotor arm and distributor cap and since the fuel filter was only £12, I got one of those anyway.
I'll have them all fitted later this week and hope for the best.

She started perfectly again this morning, so it appears to only present if I leave it a few days without starting.

Re: 2l Petrol Starting Issue

Thanks for the quick and informative reply Geoff.

I'll get the distributor cap replaced in this case. I'm sure that shouldn't prove too expensive.

Would you also advise to change the fuel filter?

What about the "Banjo" filter? (I don't even know if the petrol vehicles have one!) Should I take a ...

2l Petrol Starting Issue

Hi all,

I've read loads of threads on this, but nothing concrete on concluding what might be my problem.

We've had our 2l petrol for 4yrs and do very few miles, but I did change both starter and leisure batteries during the summer months just gone (2024) and have the vehicle serviced (oil and air ...

Re: Should my fridge work this way?

You should find that there are TWO fuses accompanying the Split Charge Relay, one fuse close to each battery connected to the relay.
When one fuse blows the other fuse will also have been about to blow as well the two are in series so it is important that BOTH fuses are replaced otherwise the ...

Re: Should my fridge work this way?

More investigation reporting:

I don't have the problems I thought it did.

The Zig car/caravan battery switch ONLY comes into play when the right-most Charger setting is set to On-site. If this is left in the Towing position, both batteries are in play, I'm guessing since it keeps the split charger ...

Re: 2.0ltr replacement starter battery

Yes its fine, there are others available but the quality is fine, you can go for a lower capacity & cheaper if cost is factor. Below is my normal post;
Bosch S4 335/028/249
Yuasa 5335

Typical Capacity is 95 Amp Hours,
Typical Dimensions 306L x 175W x 225H

A search on Tayna batteries www.tayna ...

Re: 2.0ltr replacement starter battery

The Bosch S4 335 is fine for all types of Bongo engine.

This post is a few years old now, but I notice the Bosch S4 335 Car Battery is still available to buy.

My question is whether it's still the best option to replace my starter battery, which no longer holds charge at all well.

For details ...

Re: Identify - Black box under dash

Oh, that's great news.
Maybe I'll try to get to it to see if it's an expired battery in the unit which is giving off the beeps....then tell the insurance company about it.

Cheers muchly.

Identify - Black box under dash

Hi,

I wonder if any of you experts can identify the black box which site under my dash, which beeps if battery power is low and keys are OUT of ignition.

That specific beeping stops when the key is turned to the "On" position.

It also stops when I unplug one of the sockets connected to it, as ...

Re: Should my fridge work this way?

Hi Tuttiweb,

Did you ever resolve this issue?

I have just bought a 2002 Bongo myself. The advert said that the fridge was faulty, and that the likely problem was a faulty compressor that needed replacing.

I've taken it to a specialist today who, after 2 hours of his time, has managed to get ...

Re: Should my fridge work this way?

Thank you.

As I thought then, what happened, shouldn't have been able to happen and it's likely that my fridge is incorrectly wired.
