Re: Install/adjust alternator belt & pulley. 2.5 petrol.

Update.. Thanks Geoff that diagram and procedure was spot on ! To release the tension and enable belt to go on, a clockwise lever force has to be applied to the 17mm nut securing the tensioner and this pivots the wheel down with just enough deflection for the belt to flip over with fingers. Re: Temperature gauge not moving….

The EXACT same symptoms have occurred on my temp gauge! I was replacing an alternator belt and tensioner on Wednesday, and had to jack up and wriggle underneath to do so, access a bit tight. All was good with replaced belt once I took for a test run, but noticed the temp gauge wasn't moving except l...

Re: Install/adjust alternator belt & pulley. 2.5 petrol.

Hi Geoff, Thanks for finding that... thats 100% the correct diagram and procedure, but I cant really make out where the adjustment is... it reads simply install new belt, but its way too tight to prize over. Can you make out from that info where or if there is any adjustment.. I'm flummoxed.

Re: Install/adjust alternator belt & pulley. 2.5 petrol.

I need to get Bongo up on axle stands to have a proper look, was just jacked up one side and couldn't see where to adjust alternator either. Didn't look much scope for alt to move in the required direction. Will get under in the morning hopefully for another look, rain stopped play! Another Diagram ...

Re: Install/adjust alternator belt & pulley. 2.5 petrol.

Hi Geoff, thanks for your input, I have item 5... new.. looks like the item I am removing and I removed item 6 Allen key head bolt but none of this allowed any movement.. the belt shape in the diagram is slightly different from the profile of the belt I have. Re: Temp Gauge goes to Zero and cabin air cools.

Cheers Bob, is my intention is to bleed the system once I get the bongo back to UK in Feb, but at the moment just keeping an eye on things. it's been sweet the last 3 days driving to and from work. I think the only reason the expansion tank had dropped below min because it wasn't topped up in 2 yrs ...

Temp Gauge goes to Zero and cabin air cools.

Hi I bought a 2002 v6 Auto 2.5 here in Toulouse Last week, seems good condition although only done 3000km in last 2 years and I don't think well maintained. Coolant was well below min (now topped up)but oil good and clean. Ran Bongo to work (20-25min) 4 days no prob. Temp gauge performed as it shoul...
