Re: V6 air-con pump/hoses. More than one generation?
How do - I worked it out now - the two pumps are actually different flavours, apparently there is a 61-450, 450A, 450B, 450C and 450D. I had a 450 originally and was sent a 450D. The only difference appears to be the connectors. rjduncanuk, if you're still after one my replacement has the full ...

Re: V6 air-con pump/hoses. More than one generation?
Ok, ta, will pore through the schematics to see if I can understand the difference...
...hmm, having pored I can't see any difference, all 4 generations seem to have the same part number for the hoses 61-461 & 61-462 together forming 61-462A.
Is the difference you refer to with the rear a/c shown ...

Re: V6 air-con pump/hoses. More than one generation?
Thanks Simon. Is this change of fittings common to all engines or just the v6?

V6 air-con pump/hoses. More than one generation?
Howdy all, a word of caution to fellow V6 owners, or perhaps just a public admission of my incompetence!
Our air-con pump seized up last year and we've just got round to getting a replacement fitted. Sourced the item and hoses from eBay and took them to our Bongo people for fitting. Lo and behold ...

Re: Empty expansion tank - what now?
Thanks. We drove home fine - but after 40 miles at 60mph, albeit with it only being about 5-10 degrees today, the bottom hose was still cold. Is this normal?

Re: Empty expansion tank - what now?
Right - I had intended to do the bike pump test but called the AA instead as I was hoping we'd be recovered and then I could work at it over the weekend. The AA dude did said bike pump test and the system held pressure for a good 10 minutes without a leak. Then he checked the head gasket and that ...

Re: Empty expansion tank - what now?
Thanks all. I think I'll probably have a go at pressure testing it with a bike pump tomorrow. No evidence of a leak as yet, although water pump was replaced at same time as rad so there might be an old hose somewhere which has just given up. I agreed about the Coolant alarm. We hadn't got round to ...

Empty expansion tank - what now?
Hi all,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We had a split radiator a few months ago and had it replaced and coolant changed by a reputable dealer. They told us to watch for header tank movements and so we did, topping up once or twice with small (<100ml) amounts water.
All was good - and I'd not bothered to look at ...

Re: "Total" coolant loss (V6)
Haydn, thanks - we actually aren't seeing the same person as usual, he wasn't available, so we've gone for "Drive-In" in Aylesbury who, according to the members area, know an approved coolant change method.
I will be taking the fact sheet with me when I go back in regardless!

Re: "Total" coolant loss (V6)
Brief update for all those who are interested (and thanks for all the help so far), radiators not back in stock til Monday so will be on the phone then. Once fitted I've asked for a flush and check of hoses before refill. Will look at the cost of water pumps, and order a low Coolant alarm, tomorrow!

Re: "Total" coolant loss (V6)
No need ro check under pressure, filled up with water and it all just came running out the top of the radiator! Going into the garage today sl will see if they find a reason for the radiator going pop or whether it's just bad luck

Re: "Total" coolant loss (V6)
I'm afraid that my mechanical skills are limited to fixing pedal bikes, unfortunately I'm "one of them" who would be looking for a garage to do the work for me - especially as this is our only vehicle. At least identifying the leak will be a start!

Oooh - cool - is it something that can be easily replicated? I'll ask.
