Many thanks for your replies, and I was going to include the following info, such a numpty!

Transmission has had its fluid replaced, sump off and sludge removed.
Rear diff checked and levels very good.

Hard to say where the hum is coming from, sounds a bit like the transmission.

Just wondering if any one has come across this, This hum only happens when in stop/start traffic for a while, no slip, shudder or judder and can accelerate with no problems, and goes if you ease off the throttle a tiny bit. You can hear it on the youtube clip, may have ...

Many thanks for your replies, it's going to a certain friendly expert at Plymouth :D to have some TLC. Will also have our presumably leaky air con looked at as well, just in case it can be repaired.

many thanks for the replies.

Basically, when there's four of us, 2 adults, 2 teenagers plus day trip stuff, then when accelerating away, sometimes on the flat or uphill, then the whine, or a high pitched 'musical hum' appears, and is fairly loud and is in about 2 or 3 gear, ease off slightly and ...

Have posted about a little LPG issue, so thought I would go the distance and mention a whine, or fairly high pitched musical hum if our Bongo is loaded and we drive up a hill, or accelerate. No noise at all if lightly loaded.

Romano LPG losing settings

Hello, have been enjoying our Bongo since October last year, and revelling in the ease, the ride, so really happy. Had it converted to a Romano LPG when we purchased her, and runs beautifully, returns about 17-18mpg, and now LPG is half the price of petrol. Excellent!
