Re: V6 Air Conditioning Compressor Seized Up

Apologies, just read your reply more fully!! Must concentrate more.

Shall attempt to identify and remove the wire from front of compressor unit and then consider whether to cut the belt too. I don't think I have the tools or skills to remove the belt in tact.

Thanks all, Cris

Re: V6 Air Conditioning Compressor Seized Up

Thanks for all the help - I might have look and see if I can disconnect the electric clutch as might be easier than removing/cutting the belt.

Is there just a fairly obvious electrical connection to remove from the compressor / pump unit ?

Cheers, Cris

Re: V6 Air Conditioning Compressor Seized Up

sorry Nth missed details of your post - yes all works fine when aircon not on.

noticed problem over Christmas when tried aircon to help with demisting - bit of squealing noise a bit disconcerting so quickly switched off.

Tried to use a couple of days later, switched on aircon when idling at ...

Re: V6 Air Conditioning Compressor Seized Up

Thanks all for the advice.

Removing the belt certainly seems like the thing to do if I don't replace the compressor. With my limited skills and tools I think I might just cut it.

If I were to do this can I just confirm that the internal heater and fan blower will still work and I will just lose ...

V6 Air Conditioning Compressor Seized Up

Hi all,

I've recently discovered the Air Conditioning Compressor / Pump on my 1997 Petrol V6 Bongo has seized up and wondered what the implications might be?

I know ideally I need to source an exact replacement part (S09C61-450D) as hose patterns vary and they seem pretty darn expensive - £1300 ...

Re: Raising the roof!

Here's a tip for when lowering the roof...

Remove the centre wooden board before lowering and lost in afterwards. Otherwise, you get a big airlock and it's harder to get the tent fabric neatly back in. I only discovered the difference this makes by accident!

Enjoy your trip!

Re: Raising the roof!

If it's the same as mine, you should find two key locks on the top edge of the roof on the side you push up. One towards the front above passenger door and one towards the rear.

It might help at first to use a stool to locate and get a good view of mechanism. Unlock both using the key, then you ...

Re: V6 Starting Issues after Rain/Fog

Thanks for all input.

For the record, it turned out it was corrosion in the distributor cap and at the end of the short HT lead as suggested.

ADS got it all sorted for me yesterday afternoon, with new dissy cap, rotor and leads for just over £200.

I note I could have got the parts (although not ...

Re: V6 Starting Issues after Rain/Fog

Brilliant, thank you all for your helpful replies and clear photos.

Now I know where the distributor cap is I shall certainly give that a go with the WD40 if problem arises again. (Hadn't thought to follow HT leads to the other end - then I didn't even know they were called HT leads!)

I think it ...

V6 Starting Issues after Rain/Fog

Hi there,

I'm wondering if any of you can offer me an "idiots guide/checklist" of things to try when my bongo doesn't start first thing in the morning after heavy rain and/or cold fog/mist.

It's happened a couple of times in the last few weeks. Both times the night/day before it has rained heavily ...

Re: Another strange central locking problem.

I has some intermittent locking and unlocking on bumpy roads when driving along which was resolved when I took some wet and dry paper to the sensors on the sliding door.

This simple solution might help with some of your issue hopefully.

Re: Removing Furuno Japanese Electric Toll Collection System

I feel a little guilty for removing some of the Japanese heritage of our bongo but the Furumo ETC box is now removed!!

I had a look behind fuse box with my head torch but couldn't quite trace the wires. However, I did discover that both wires to the Furumo box had clip adaptors to fix to box and ...
