Re: Problems with power dropping out, have I killed my engine?

Its unlikely at this stage. From the various links to threads below which are well worth reading in full there are two main concerns; 1. The increased level causes the fuel to be more hydroscopic and hence absorbs water from the atmosphere, this is likely to result in a gel forming where the fuel a...

Re: Problems with power dropping out, have I killed my engine?

I'm nowhere near as mechanically inclined as some of the regulars on here but IIRC the issue with E10 was that one of the pinking agents that replaced the lead was corrosive to some of the pipes, as opposed to not compatible with the engine in general. But like I said someone with more knowledge wi...

Problems with power dropping out, have I killed my engine?

I'm going to hold up my hands at the start here and say that I realise I've made a mistake, and I'm hoping things aren't as bad as I fear they are as a result! Please be gentle :( I've got a 2002 V6 and, somehow , when E10 started appearing, I read (almost certainly mis-read) somewhere that E10 woul...

Re: Suddenly very noisy exhaust and something hanging off!

The Force is clearly with me today as I shimmied under the van, found the hole, and screwed the sensor back in and all is well! I've no idea how it could have come out because, as you say, its clearly not the sort of thing that you would expect to come loose of its own accord. So I'm a bit mystified...

Re: Suddenly very noisy exhaust and something hanging off!

You haven't told us which engine you have 2l or V6 petrol, its similar sensors just after the manifold and before it gets to the catalytic convertor. Thank you for the reply! Sorry, it's a V6 petrol. So, on the assumption that it's not rusted, is it simply a case of me finding where it should screw...

Suddenly very noisy exhaust and something hanging off!

Hi all! As the title suggests, I am not at all technically minded when it comes to our Bongo, so I'm hoping some kind soul will be able to advise! I've got a 2002 Bongo and yesterday when I was driving the exhaust suddenly got very noisy! I immediately stopped and looked under the van. The noise was...

Repairing the paint on my JAL skylift roof?

Hi Not strictly a "techie" question, but this seems the most appropriate forum! I've had a JAL Bongo for a few years, very happy with it. The "Skylift" roof that was fitted prior to collection has been fine, but I noticed while cleaning (a disappointingly rare event) that the pai...

I went for this one in the end https://www.halfords.com/technology/car ... car-stereo

Fitted it yesterday with the PC2-78-4 adapter mentioned earlier and it works perfectly. Thanks everyone for all your help!

Re: Wiring up a new radio - help!

Can confirm it was a PC2-78-4 that I used. I fitted one of the Pumpkin double din android head units that does the satnav and has a reverse camera. Has worked fine through the standard speakers. Open your glove box and push the brackets in to remove the whole box. You can the get your hand behind t...

Re: Wiring up a new radio - help!

What age van is it? Mine was a 2003 and total mare to sort out as it had some amazing aftermarket mini disc thing fitted. I'm now using a double din job that has sat nav etc. I'll look back through my receipts and see what adapter I used. Thanks very much for that. Mine is a 2002, so I'm guessing i...

Re: Wiring up a new radio - help!

The connectors have been changed over the years, the version you have looks like it needs the PC2-78-4 adaptor to ISO standard, looking at the pictures, but try to confirm this before buying! The older version needed the PC2-10-4 version, searching those codes on Google will find you the various pi...

Wiring up a new radio - help!

After a couple of years of only being able to receive Radio 2 through the radio that came with our Bongo, we finally gave in and have bought a new stereo, hurray! Now comes the small matter of fitting it. I managed to remove the old radio and my hopes of it being a straightforward job were instantly...
