Power steering leaking (spraying out!)

Hi everyone,

I went to drive my Bongo on Sunday for my steering to immediately become very heavy and for a puddle of steering fluid to have accumulated on my drive :(

I got the AA out who reckoned it was a leaking high pressure power steering pipe - having scoured the site I can't see any topics ...

Re: Leaking from sump - taken off sump

UPDATE

Thanks all for your input so far.

I have now put the pan back on - used a straight edge and torch as suggested (looked ok to me....), used an oil resistant liquid sealant rather than a gasket and tightened the bolts to a magical not too loose but not so tight as to warp the pan (not sure if ...

Re: Leaking from sump - taken off sump

Ok - so use the appropriate liquid sealant and check the oil filter. Got it.

Hopefully that will do the job........

Leaking from sump - taken off sump

HI all,

I drove my Freda (2.5 Diesel) a few days ago and came home to find that I had left a trail of oil (?) behind me which looked as though it was coming from my sump.

I called the AA and he reckoned that my sump had rusted through and that I should change it......

So today I removed my sump ...

Re: Fitting a rear spoiler

So,
Drilled out the plastic guidance pins, marked the holes, drilled and with a bit of faffing hey presto.
Not perfect but I think it passes the eye test......

Re: Fitting a rear spoiler

Thanks Colin, I'll saw them both off. Thought that would be the way but thought I'd double check!

Fitting a rear spoiler

Hi all,
I can see that there's a number of threads on this which I've read. It seems that fitting using a combination of measuring and masking tape imprints are the way to go.
HOWEVER,
I seem to have to bits (one on each side) that stick out of the spoiler and look as though they should clip into ...

fuel gauge - followed worksheet - always showing fuel level

So, along with almost every other Bongo owner it seems, I have an issue with the fuel gauge!

I've gone through the worksheet and tried some of the quick fixes. I first tried to earth the tank from underneath - but this didn't have any effect so I thought I'd lift the carpets and try and earth it ...

Re: Ramps, axle stands or hydraulic jacks - help!

Thanks all - lots of views here!

The most obvious thing to say is that safety is the most important thing. If I can't afford an option that is safe I don't even try to raise the van - end of.

The safest option (other than a pit) seems to be hydraulic ramps but at about £400-£500 (eg at dj autos ...

Ramps, axle stands or hydraulic jacks - help!

I'm looking to try and get under my van to try and maintain her as much as poss (nothing to complicated!) but I'm not sure what the best / safest way to get under is.

Ramps seem the simplest (maybe something like this https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/car-ramps-crw25 )

But are ...

Re: Fuel filter dented - can I still drive?

Hi all,

Thanks all for your help with this. So got the filter wrench today and it promptly broke so resorted to the the screwdriver through the filter technique but there was no way this would've worked without removing the filter from the completer housing - something I would've never thought of ...

Re: Fuel filter dented - can I still drive?

Thanks bob,

It's the fuel filter (behind the fuel filter and to the left as you look down on it). I think the pressure of the filter strap compressed it rather than turned it so it's not pierced.

Good to know I can drive her but do you have any suggestions on how to remove a stubborn filter?

Fuel filter dented - can I still drive?

So - I've had my Frda for a couple of years but I'm now really trying to get to grips with it. I changed the air filter (obviously not too challenging!) so I thought I'd try and move on to changing the fuel filter.......

The filter looked very old (signs of rust on the lip at the top, Japanese ...
