Once the handles are off its spring clips, just avoid pulling them out by using the trim itself otherwise the clips bend, then pop off in all directions - normally never to be found again ;-) So the pry tool is a good idea or a long flat screwdriver. You may also get quite a long way using a cable ...

Likely best to use a Trim Removal Kit:

One very common problem that might be associated with your trouble is that the drivers door loom tends to suffer from metal fatigue where the loom passes between the door and chassis, the wires become broken within there insulation. So anything that goes via that loom is ...
