JATCO automatic gearbox parts
Hi all, my Bongo is in for some serious work on the automatic transmission. The garage is a transmission specialist, but is struggling to find replacement parts. They've gone direct to Mazda, but no date is forthcoming for supply of the parts concerned.

Re: Confirming gearbox model: Year 2000 2.0l petrol Auto
Thanks for the feedback, Simon. Your comment about the fluid condition is exactly what the RAC man said! The ATF is brown, but I don't think that in itself would cause *complete* transmission failure. So I poured in about a litre of new fluid on the off chance. I figured that would be plenty to ...

Re: Confirming gearbox model: Year 2000 2.0l petrol Auto
Further question from me on this! My local garage has said it would consider swapping out my broken gearbox with a second hand one supplied by me (subject to a fistful of understandable caveats). The major question they have is .... can the gearbox simply be swapped out with my existing gearbox ECU ...

Hi Simon. I'd be grateful for your views.
It all started last week. My wife was driving around the village (thankfully!), and the gearbox suddenly disengaged. No warning lights on dashboard. The Bongo crawled to a halt. She left it a few minutes and re-started ... the car moved 100 yards and then ...

Re: Confirming gearbox model: Year 2000 2.0l petrol Auto
Just to close this one off, the link below doesn't reveal the gearbox model. There is no substitute for getting underneath the bus! I found the id on an aluminium tag bolted onto the transmission and visible from the passenger side just behind the cat converter.

Confirming gearbox model: Year 2000 2.0l petrol Auto
Well, my foray into Bongonauting has taken a disastrous turn ... the gearbox has completely failed after only two months of ownership. I am weighing up my options in terms of getting a secondhand box or shelling out for reconditioning. Either way, I am having trouble confirming the exact gearbox ...

Re: Excessive play in wiper arms
Hi all, just wondering if anyone has a nugget of advice about this. I think I'm going to have to drill out the rusty bolt on Saturday and thread a new one of similar size through the plastic casing. I am a little concerned that this approach will affect operation of the wipers, so other views are ...

Re: Excessive play in wiper arms
Hi all, happy new year.
I just attempted to replace the wiper link rods, but had a problem. The bolt circled in red in the diagram below rotates as I turn the nut. Access to the underside is extremely limited ... any hints on how I can keep the bolt still and remove the nut?

Simon, thanks very much for your reply. The apparently simple installation certainly makes them worth a try! Just ordered them .... so fingers crossed.

Excessive play in wiper arms
Hallo to all on the forum - I'm very pleased to meet you. I recently acquired a 2000 2.0l petrol tin top - and the whole family is delighted with it! It's perfect for carting around a family of six. We do like our Japanese imports - our previous bus was a '96 Toyota Estima.
