Thanks Geoff. I can see from photos that some external trim features like headlights have definitely changed. Fingers crossed on things like seats and rails.

Bongo out for the count - parts compat with 2004 model?

Tragically, our 1998 Freda diesel hi-top was rear-ended while parked and is not economic to repair due to some frame bending. A loss felt by the whole family, even though the kids have all left home long ago.

I'm looking at a 2004 petrol that's available and thought I'd ask those who know:

Are ...

Perhaps the voltage drop isn't enough because I currently have LED courtesy lights rather than incandescents??

Well, I had one old incandescent hanging around - but it didn't change anything when I swapped it back in and tried again, many times. Maybe I need to swap both in, or provide ...

Re: Upgrade/ Replacement fob/key

Followed the instructions in the video using the key mentioned above and it worked!

I now need to get the blade cut

Hmm. What model/year is your Bongo?

My 1998 Freda doesn't do anything after stage where the door's courtesy light switch is pressed three times - no locking/unlocking to signal ...

Re: Mazda Airbag Recall?? 2000-2002+

I hate to be a pedant but I'm going to revive this thread to note the following:

1. The assurance from Mazda quoted by Ian says "...not affected by the recall for the passenger airbag." (my emphasis)

2. The first of the two articles linked below mentions specifically the driver airbag needing ...

Reversing camera - ground connection?

Hi folks,
I've fitted a wireless reversing camera in a through-the-bumper config which works fine for my '98 Freda. However, although it works ok I've realised that I have powered the camera incorrectly. It's currently bridging one of the reversing lights (giving it a barely adequate 8-9V to play ...

Re: Central locking - possible to source/apply new remote?

I concur with Jaylee mine had factory fitted central locking. I fitted a cat 1 alarm easy to convert and must be cheaper than trying to source coded parts. After market C/L systems here cost from about £20.00 last time I sourced them.

Thanks for the comments. You make it sound so easy. But ...

Central locking - possible to source/apply new remote?

Hi there,
I've searched for this topic (e.g. http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=42675&p=433319&hilit=remote+lock#p433266) but can't spot any indication of a possible source for replacement remote central locking fobs.

We've got a '97 Freda, it has factory remote locking ...

Re: High pitched squeal/noise when accelerating (V6)

BigDaddy's explanation is a defo. possibility.

...and in fact was the right one, if my layman's eyes, ears and finger can be trusted. Accelerating from idle while in park, I can feel gases escaping above what appears to be a missing stud at bottom left on the exhaust manifold, right near the ...

Re: High pitched squeal/noise when accelerating (V6)

On the diesel Bongo (and most newer cars) the fans are electric, amd not driven by a belt.

Ooooooook. Hmmmm. If not a belt, what could this be then? A transmission issue, even though it happens in neutral also?

I can't think of any belt on the diesel Bongo that should not be turning all the ...

Re: High pitched squeal/noise when accelerating (V6)

How did you get on?

Our diesel '96 Freda started doing this on a just-completed 1500km trip, getting more noticeable as time went on. Same symptoms - ascending squeal when under accelerator load, tending to disappear when cruising. Not related to transmission (i.e. will occur when revving in Park ...

Re: Odd behaviour with brake lights and Waeco Cruise control

When you say park lights do you mean the reversing (white)light?

What I call the "parkers" are the low-illumination white lights facing front and similar low-illumination red lights facing to the rear (first click of the lights stalk).

At least the former went on with the brake, I dare say the ...

Odd behaviour with brake lights and Waeco Cruise control

Gidday,
This is just a report in case it helps someone else in a similar situation.

Vehicle:
Freda '97 with Waeco Cruise control added long ago, working fine

Problem:
Recently, my ignition barrel failed (internal fracture!) and was replaced. This is not relevant except it made me think the ...

Re: Ignition barrel jam (key ok but...)

Hi
I have not had internal locks freeze, but everything else gets frozen here ....my usual cure is warming it with a pocket blowlamp, a hot key, or in your case, where you can get a mains lead in the car without trailing in snow, a hairdryer might warm the lock....my bugbear is the sliding door ...
