Re: Zig CF9 Charger Setting

Thank you Geoff, that's really helpful. I believe it does have a separate SCR switch. I have the RAC out again at this very moment as despite the new battery it's not starting. Having a bad run of luck at the minute - exhaust fell off a few weeks ago! Hoping this is not the beginning of the end for ...

Zig CF9 Charger Setting

Hello,
I’m after a little help if that’s OK. I have a Bongo with a Zig CF9 unit. I use the van more for general day-to-day use than camping and keep the charger set to towing (unless I am camping) as I want to keep the leisure battery charged. I know when camping the charger needs to be switched ...

Headlight Reflectors

Hello Bongo Fury,
Hope everyone is well on this murky Sunday morning!

Wondering if anyone can please help? Last time the bongo went in for servicing the guy at garage said the beam from the main headlights is borderline for MOT. He thought the reflectors were starting to wear but they look fine ...

Hoorahhh! I am pleased to report bongo flew through the MOT retest, didn't even need to change the bulbs. Thanks so much everyone for all your advice. Really appreciated, what a brilliant bunch of people :D

Re: MOT Failure Lamps - Are Brighter Bulbs an Option?

Thanks Simon, Phil and Frank. The t-cut seems to have done the trick for us. Not sure they are quite as shiny as Simon's but they are looking pretty good :-) We will see what Mr MOT-bod thinks tomorrow :-)

My van looks so much better for cleaning them up too. Almost perfect apart from the front ...

Re: MOT Failure Lamps - Are Brighter Bulbs an Option?

Thanks - I was a bit unsure which bulbs are best so that is great. My bongo is also a 1996 2.5td aft 2wd. It's beautiful, apart from the headlights :-)

Re: MOT Failure Lamps - Are Brighter Bulbs an Option?

Cheers! Relieved I didn't have to go for the sanding, not sure I have the same dedication to the cause as your mate. Sounds like he needs to get out more

Re: MOT Failure Lamps - Are Brighter Bulbs an Option?

Thanks so much everyone. I had some t-cut in so gave them a quick polish up last night and it seems to have done the trick. The yellow film had gone all gloopy so it lifted off pretty easily. They need another going over, perhaps with some toothpaste :o but I think they are going to be fine ...

Re: MOT Failure Lamps - Are Brighter Bulbs an Option?

I wish I had mates like that - sure what you say about how much you want to take off makes a lot of sense. Really appreciate your help.

I know what you mean about mood of tester - not had a problem with visibility - on a different day it may have got a pass. Oh well, it was a new import so at least ...

Re: MOT Failure Lamps - Are Brighter Bulbs an Option?

T-cut seems to be a reoccurring theme on some of the other posts I have now managed to find on this subject.
thanks

Re: MOT Failure Lamps - Are Brighter Bulbs an Option?

Hello
Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, apparently it is a problem with them going yellow.

Is that something garage can do for me - the last bit of your post didn't quite make sense? (I'm doing this with mine at the moment - 800, then 1000, 1200 and 1500 grit wet and dry, followed by a machine ...

MOT Failure Lamps - Are Brighter Bulbs an Option?

Hello,
I wonder if anyone can please help me?

My bongo has just failed its MOT due to the headlights not being bright enough. It’s been suggested by garage that whilst the ideal is to replace the lamps we could try a brighter bulb. Wondering if anyone has had similar problems and whether it is ...
