Proper bleeding demos at the Bash

Post by missfixit70 » Mon Apr 26, 2010 10:03 pm

A couple of Northern Bleeders who have become very well versed in the cooling system & the art of bleeding have volunteered to put on proper bleeding demonstrations at the Bash, this will be using the funnel/see-saw method. It is not intended to be the definitive "this is how to do it & all other ways are useless" but just to show how they ( & many of us) do it & what to expect, etc.
Here's a taster video of part of the process, it's just a part of the bleed, but gives you some idea of what to expect - http://www.vimeo.com/11123017
Not sure how much interest there'll be in this, so shout up with your opinions/interest.
I think the idea will be to run it on the basis of people booking in for it via the shop at the bash with a nominal charge of £1 each to go to an as yet to be decided charity, hopefully try & keep the groups to less than 10 so people can see what's going on.
Provisionally say 1pm & 4pm (before & after Haydn's maintenance demos, this has been discussed with him too) on Friday & Saturday depending on demand?

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Fantastic idea!! :D

As this is one of the most crucial - but at the same time - easily understandable tools to keeping the Bongo fit & healthy, its a great idea to make the whole process more User Friendly.

Its not as scary as it sounds & can save many people lots of headaches if the routine is explained/demonstrated in Laymans terms.

Good call.

Do you mean proper as in Physically doing it as opposed to just demonstrating what should be done?

These sessions will be real-time bleeding. We are hoping to run 3 x sessions, each for 6 people. Advance tickets only which you can buy for £1 (all proceeds to charity) from Matthew at the Bongo Shop at the bash. Further details to follow.

Proper as in physically doing the bleed, therefore "Proper bleeding demo" rather than a dry run. coolant will be emptied from the bongo & then it will be refilled & bled, showing the process. Details as yet to be agreed depending on demand, not sure that 3 X 6 is going to cover demand, but then it has to be factored in that the guys that are doing the demo want to have some time to chill as well as not having too many peeps at a demo that they miss what's going on.
Hopefully a video can be put together of the process, obviously with the boring bits cut out, but also still giving people an idea of time scales & all the salient points.
