Rear reversing bulb type
My rear fog has been in the drivers side reverse cluster for years now and has always been an embarrassing pink colour but has always passed.
Today's MOT tester said it was too white. It is a red bulb and was always pink. I was surprised it past each year before.
So I need to replace it with something decent.
What type of bulb fitting is it for the reverse lights? It uses the original holder.
Has anyone found some decent red led bulbs or similar to put in there?
Just waiting to see what else it fails on

Re: Rear reversing bulb type
Just a regular 21w single filament bulb, a quick Google brings up regular and led, or your friendly car shop.
Re: Rear reversing bulb type
I seem to remember it being awkward to get last time because of where the pins are on the bulb.
I could easily get red bulbs with one arrangement (I think straight) but these were the other arrangement (I think offset) which red bulbs are harder to find for.
But I can't properly remember as it was years ago.
Re: Rear reversing bulb type
Just found my old posts from actually fitting it...

It seems as though it is a wedge type bulb
Re: Rear reversing bulb type
This is the old bulb, unfortunately it doesn't have any markings on but I posted before that it was 21W
Re: Rear reversing bulb type
you should not have any problems getting these bulbs they are widely available.

Re: Rear reversing bulb type
Unfortunately they aren't really good enough as the light from them comes out pink through the clear lens. It passed for a few years but this year failed. It perhaps is a little more pink than it was.teenmal wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 1:50 am you should not have any problems getting these bulbs they are widely available.

I bought a much brighter red LED one which looks like it is going to do the job fantastically, however it did take a little modification to fit as it was too large, should all work out though (fingers crossed!)
Re: Rear reversing bulb type
Very bright now, the photo doesn't really do it justice. But you can probably tell that it is a good bit brighter than the tail lights. Very red now too
I was always a lot happier with not having the dangling type on the bumper, but was always disappointed with the pink light before. This is spot on now and could actually function as a fog light too!

Hi
I fitted a red LED into the centre of my rear reflector on my van, very bright and the MOT station never questioned it. Look really subtle too.
