Yes, it's true! There's no Auto Free Top, and there's only a maximum of 5 seats, but Mazda have launched their new Bongo complete with sliding door.
It's known as the Mazda Bongo Van and is aimed squarely at the delivery van market. Available as a panel van, a "mini-bus" or as a pick-up it is built by Daihatsu in Indonesia at a right hand drive. All versions are 1.5 litre petrol and available as 2WD or 4WD, 5 speed manual and 4 speed automatic transmission.
The "mini-bus" (pictured above) comes in 2 versions. The STD in silver, or the DX in white which has more electric kit on board. Both are just over 4 metres in length, 1.7 metres wide and 1.93 metres tall. All models have manual aircon and Mazda's proprietary Collision Avoidance System.
Chassis numbers are S403Z-7000001 onwards for the STD and S413Z-7000001 for the DX. Prices are around 2 million yen depending on specification. That's a very reasonable £15,000.

Who will be the first enterprising UK firm to import one here I wonder?
