Absolutely, often wonder how Aitch is doing. Jeebers where do the years go. He did pop up on here not too long ago. Happy Birthday Aitch.

Well it is different for us self employed .
I always was going to retire at 50.
My Dad was a civil servant and retired at 55.
I am 64 now.... best laid plans etc.
However if all goes well I should be hanging up the spanners shortly.
Keep yer eyes peeled for a rusty Bongo draggin an old caravan up and down the country ... some time soon.

Re: Happy Birthday Aitch
Have to admit I have been lucky.
I was able to work part time from 50 and retired at 60, although it was rather forced on me. I'm fortunate to have a company pension, not a fortune but don't half help, and I still do odd part time bits.
What really annoys me is even class 1 driving is now little more than minimum wage, 40 years ago, when I started, it was a reasonable living.
I keep getting told, "That's the going rate, but we're desperate for drivers".
Not desperate to pay what's right.
