Re: Bongo Cambelt, LPG conversion?
Not all cars are that bad, I get 18 as opposed to 20 on petrol and am paying 41p/l at present. Do the maths!

Re: Roof Bed
I've got a JAL mushroom roof and there is very limited space when it's down. It would have to be quite a thin mattress.

Knocking from nearside suspension.
I've got a knocking, which is intermittent seemingly dependant on the ambient temperature, around the nearside front suspension. A mechanic has had the Bongo up on ramps and tried to find what is causing the noise but says there is no play anywhere and has no idea what is causing the knock. I've rep...

Try these guys in Worcester, they know their Bongos inside out. Also a great source of well priced spares.

Re: ADVICE SOUGHT: Which SIM free smartphone to buy
Have you had a look at the EE Rook? Only £29 + initial £20 credit. Seems almost too good to be true but by all accounts it's quite a competent smartphone. Full details on the EE website. Can't be too bad as my son in law who is usually very particular with his tech has bought one as a stopgap betwee...

Ignition switched live supply
Before I strip out the cab courtesy lights, can anyone tell me whether there is a switched live to the lighting cluster? I just need a feed for my traffic cam and this seems an obvious place if there is a supply there.

Rear window catch
Driving down the A14 the other day in high winds and my rear drivers side window started banging away. I thought the catch had come loose but when I looked, the screw holding the catch to the glass, along with the domed fitting and the rubber grommet had disappeared. I'd guess that they are pretty s...

Re: Air lift 1000
I found that although 20/25psi gets rid of any bottoming out, 40/50psi gives a nice solid rear end and eliminates any wallowing on faster bends and corners. Makes for a harsher ride on rough surfaces but worth the trade off as I don't often drive on poorly surfaced roads.

Re: Mazda bongo 2.5 v6 petrol mpg?
I've had my V6 for five years and have never even dreamt of getting 30mpg from it. Most I have ever done is about 23mpg with a very light foot on a long run. normally I get 18/20 around town. On gas I get very slightly less but at present I'm only paying 39.9p/L so that is neither here nor there.

Re: V6 Stainless Steel Exhaust.
I know Walsall is probably a bit far for you but these guys are excellent and fabricate and fit the exhaust in about three hours giving you the choice of sound and appearance. They will use your existing cat or will use one of theirs which they make onsite for about £120 as I recall. Why not factor ...

Re: JAL Skylift -v- Drivelodge elevating roof
I carry the pole for raising but do the same as you Jim for pulling down. That last 18 inches or so comes down with a heluva jolt though, nearly dislocated my elbow on one occasion. I have looked at some way of improving the shock setup but not very successfully. I used to have a VW type2 with a sim...

Re: JAL Skylift -v- Drivelodge elevating roof
They do have gas struts Mike but the way it's designed, you seem to have to get past a certain point before they have any effect. Likewise when bringing the roof down, it's nice and steady to a point and then suddenly drops. If you are not ready for this you can end up doing yourself and the roof co...

Re: JAL Skylift -v- Drivelodge elevating roof
I've got the side lift mushroom from JAL. Whilst it is great when up and gives a huge amount of headroom, getting it there can be a bit of a nightmare. It is very heavy and the method of raising it is 'Heath Robinson' to say the least. If you have any problems with your upper body strength I would d...
