Bongo Fury

Reading through the fact sheet on glow plugs and thought the idea from Ben Bruce was a good one. So armed with all the recommended items and tools from the factsheet I took the plunge and found and cut the wire in question. It was the right one (sigh of relief) co's the engine wouldn't start . This was to be expected. Fitted the switch and LED and Bingo!! everything working ! except ! no evidence of extra glowplug acitivity from what one would expect. LED went out about 2 seconds after engine started and didn't come on again. My Bongo is fitted with 2xbattries and the funny switch with the engine symbol on, so I guess it came from the colder parts of Japan. Any thoughts. Read the fact sheet to make sense of this topic.

Would be interested to know the age of your Bongo. The later models,
+ 97, do appear to be more intelligent in the use of the glowplugs.

There must have been a modification at some point, it would be
interesting to find out when this occured.

It's a 95 bongo. I wonder how old Ben Bruce's who wrote the topic is? I've decided to leave the switch in situ as it's doing no harm and when off acts as a immobliser when cold.

whatever next !! tried it again to-day and guess what. Forget
all that drivel at the top of this topic. The plugs were switching in and out ten to the dozen. So Bens factsheet is spot on. Glow plugs will last much longer if you follow his instructions.

That was a long time ago !!.

I have a '96 and a '99, - switched both of them and never
changed a glow plug since.
