Hi all
Do you think this would be suitable for a split charing system

Or would you consider it over kill?

CB - I would say a definate overkill !!
I would have thought the 180A one from them (item 250084723781) would be a good bet.
There are lots on eBay claiming amazing current handling, and using Lucar push connectors. I would only be happy with studs and nuts for the switching circuit - Lucars can come off too easily for my liking.

Hi Yamaha
So I'd be
being silly to even consider this and it would be considered
not serious as a suitable solution?

I've just ordered one of the 180 amp ones (ebay number 320082696439) to replace the rather undersized 15 amp one fitted to my Freda. Not surprisingly it's burned out

Hi CB
No, not silly - just a waste of money - you pays your money, you takes your choice!
Even the 180A one is over rated, in my opinion - more like 100A.
Your one is more for big amplifier systems, where there is a large inductive load when switched on - but I do think a lot of the smaller types advertised have a very over estimated current handling spec.

I don't think I was making my point very clearly. In my first post I was
being silly and
not serious
Good job I don't make my living as a comedian
What a whooper that relay is.
I've been look for Smart starts on Oz Ebay but it still works out cheaper to buy direct from Redarc. They quoted me $120 au.

That Aussie Smartstart is a nice looking bit of kit - about £42 delivered, I seem to remember - shame they're so far away!!
