Whilst reading other posts with regard & how UNSAFE the bongo is, after i had changed my pants and picked myself up off the floor, I had to have a dig about and found this. It needs translating from russian but the bulk of it can be made out. Make up your own mind, to me it looks like it has come out of it ok

I am sure it is a safe vehicle, only time I have felt uneasy was in the high winds, but all vans behave jittery in the wind. thanks for the link

Dobby already posted the same thing in English in the original (first) Javeed safety wind-up:

Why delete, when you are trying to help other members

And when you consider that most collisions will be with vehicles a lot lower than the Bongo, and that it may well ride up, I reckon it comes out very well indeed. Woudn't like to be in the other car when it submarines though

Well said Peter....the other posts were locked before they got out of hand.......but this is a reasoned response.......if anyone has experience of any collision involving their Bongo then this is the place to post......we are ALL curious...but we prefer facts and not rhetoric.......

Alan,
I banged My head climbing in through the sliding door once!
Does this count as a collision?

NO.....it does NOT count...I have fallen OUT of the sliding door when going to the loo in the night...( my wife will testify to this as it caused her much amusement )...but the Bongo remained undamaged....only damage was to my ego...

Have to admit, mine wasn't too great in the snow today. Slid around like a sliding thing.
Probably more to do with tyres than an inherant safety flaw.

Vehicles with large "bonnets" and small engine sizes invariably do well in frontal collisions as there is more crumple zone. Not having an engine at all under the bonnet (as in the Bongo) has got to be great for safety (as long as the passenger cell is rigid enough!) :-)
Having the original seats and belts is also going to be a good thing I would have thought. Some pople have already pointed out taht reversed middel seats may be safer in some ways too (us teh search facility)

PS Put a deposit down on my first Bongo yesterday! Yeay :-)
