Hi does any one know where I can pick up a some anti roll bar links near southampton or hampshire at least?
I need to go and pick them up today or tommorow morning

You mean the droplinks? If you can and have alternative transport, take one off and take it along to a decent Motor factor and ask them to do a match. They are a common shape and if the factor stocks "Pearl Products" links or similar he may have a pair in stock.

If you can't then take a look on ebay to get a picture of the droplink. The distance between bolt centres is 250mm and the bolt is M12. See if your factor will work off that. Providing you replace them as a pair you should be able to work with something +/- 10mm of that length.

If you do get one then let us know the part number (it something I'm about to do myself). I think you will find it will be considerably cheaper than those provided by a dealer.

You need to find an auto factors that stocks Pearl High Tech Parts. The part number is PLB601. Phone around, there must be one down near So'ton docks who deal with Bongos.

Ian, I've just got these in this morning from Pearl, so if you want to pop round to pick them up, you're quite welcome.

Thanks for that Ian, saves me the job of finding the catalogue number. I think I only need the rears but am not desparate so I'll take a rain check if that's ok. I was going to take both front and rear in to my local factor and see if they could make a match for future reference. Thing is I don't see a match for the rears in Pearl's catalogue. I've heard they are the same for the Ford Galaxy but again anything from the dealer is going to prove a tad expensive.

I wonder if you guys can help. I get (sometimes, not always) a slight click/clunk from (I think) front drivers side suspension area when I brake when manouevring and/or change from forward to reverse. Would this be likely to be the drop links (I dont even know what drop links are and how to check them!)? I think I read its best to change them promptly as the bolts become burred and hard to remove otherwise. Is that right?

Good to know if they are cheap and simple to change though. Presume changing doesnt affect tracking etc?

If yours is 4WD Mike then it's more likely to be the driveshaft C.V. joint

Mike - the droplink connects the anti-roll bar to the car. On the front it comprises a bar with a small ball joint on either end and runs parallel to the suspension leg. When one of the balljoints fail you get a knock usually when cornering and going over a bump. These things should be cheap but there can be a tremendous markup by a dealer for example MR2 front, Toyota price = £71.50 + vat. Pearl Products about £11 inc vat. However, they don't make them for the MR2 but the Vauxhall Senator ones fit nicely. Therefore apply the same logic to a Bongo droplink. Find something that is a near match at your local motor factors or get them off Ian. Yes they are easy to fit and if a bit difficult to come off, a soaking in releasing oil usually does the trick.

Now your particular problem - dunno about the changing from forward to reverse that sounds more like engine mounts. Spend a bit of time working out where the noise is coming from and check the bushes that hold the ARB in place as well as the droplink (jack van up and drop the wheel on to some blocks of wood so as to take the weight off the suspension. Then feel around the wheel and wiggle the droplink. If loose then probably worn, if tight then ok).

I'll check out things as suggested Ian. The 'problem' I am reporting is very minor in any case as the whole thing actually feels very solid. But best to catch anything (if there is anything!) early I think.

Not necessarily so Mike. You need it to fail so that you can identify it. Wait until it becomes a real pain in the butt then sort it

Click noise when changing from front to reverse and reverse to front is more than likely to be the brake shoes re-adjusting themselves in their retainers. Nothing to panic about.

Thanks Vanmanerik that would fit (assuming by brake shoes you mean front disc pads as I THINK the noise comes from there). its occasional and doesnt sound at all major anyway. Just Bongiosts Angst
