Rev counter (again again)

Hi all,

There are a few threads on problems with the rev counter dropping to zero intermittently. (like this one).

It's now happing to me as well (and causing the hold light to flash when the revs go haywire). Anybody found a specific connector/sensor that needs to be cleaned to fix this?

Also on page 74 of the workshop manual (thanks Bongotowers) the rpm sensor seems to be called the "NE Sensor". What does NE mean?

I had these symptoms and in my case it was a defective switch on the cambelt housing which senses the revs, it is a Mazda part, generator pulse WL0120H10B, about 50 notes iirc but it worked :-)

Yes - seems to be the thing touch wood. You can order the part through a UK Mazda dealer.
