Bongo Fury

I have an Eclipse E5508 CMD stereo system, fitted before I bought the vehicle. I've been trying to get hold of a user manual over the internet, sent emails to Eclipse Europe and Japan, plus United Radio, all of whom supposedly supply the unit.
At the moment, the display screen on the radio is in Japanese script, the default radio station is Radio Hiroshima!
Is this a standard stereo for the Bongo. Has anyone got a user manual for this stereo? If I disconnect the battery, I imagine that I will need a PIN number to re-activate it?

Unless you happen to like Radio2 and only Radio2 it's pretty much junk. Jap home market radios only use a very limited frequency band. You need either a radio band expander or better still junk the lot and fit a UK spec unit.

I'm getting a new stereo for Xmas and will be more then happy to GIVE my band expander away for nowt.

Hi, I did consider many options for my bongo: fit a band expander to the existing radio/cassette player and separate CD player or replacing the lot with a uk market cd/ radio perhaps even with a head unit and cd changer. Ultimately I went on ebay and found a single Din size all in one DVD player and radio receiver for £130 its the business. I have copied all my music CDs into MP3 format and placed them onto a DVD. essentially now I have a single dvd with over 50 hours of music on it. no need to find a place for an autochanger etc and the bongo is not full of cds. Its maybe worth a look. Ialso found band expanders on there for a fiver. I'm sure they work but I couldn't put up with the display reading wrong! one other thing there are a couple of good ideas on here for filliing up the hole if you remove a CDplayer etc. one is to buy Din size Cubby hole from Halfords, the other is to find a din size clock and cubby hole from a Scapyard (old BMW 3 and 5 series I think) I hope this is food for thought
