Roof canvas
Posted: Wed Dec 20, 2006 2:18 pm
Three or four of the plastic studs/rivets, which secure the canvas to the underside of the elevating roof, have come loose and detached themselves. Any advice on how to repair or replace? I've tried just pushing them together to see if they click back into place, without success. There is a metal screw in each stud, should I be able to undo these?
I probably shouldn't have raised the roof into the teeth of a gale!

Not had a look myself but is it possible to squeeze the male part of the stud ever so slightly with a strong pair of pliers so as to make it more oval and hence a tighter fit in the female part?

They need to be refitted with Araldite or similar

Sorry I thought you meant they wouldn't clip together. You mean they've come away from the surface? Yeah araldite should do it.

This problem was discussed on the forum some time ago, including several very illuminating photographs.

Tantalising.
I did try searching for previous discussion of this topic...
Can you point me in the right direction or remember the outcome of the previous post?

I super-glued mine, when I discovered I had this problem. That was about June. I put the roof up last weekend to check for damp (there was none) and the repair is still OK.
