flush coolant

how much would you expect to pay to get coolant replaced?
2 minds whether to do it my self or gwet a garage to do it
i know calder is close to me and i think bumbly mentioned linlithgow - which again aint a million miles a way

I had mine flushed a few months ago, paid £25.

Mine was done when the head was replaced, ie too late! I thnik it is wporth doing but it is a complex process. You could try Stuart near Linlithgow, not sure if he will be too keen though as they are "difficult" to do. I will PM you his number.

Learn to do it yourself, you can't trust a garage to do it properly. You can not be too careful!

I too reckon if you can learn to flush and bleed the coolant system correctly, you will be much more confident with your bongo's cooling system

Calling all Bongo Experts
How practical is it for the average guy to do on his/her own? If I print off the factsheet (I think there is a Bongo Fury one isnt there?) and follow instructions, is the job really straightforward so you can be confident at the end that you have not left any air lurking in the system?
I'd like to do mine as it has not had a service in 2 yrs and - as part of getting it fettled, it would be good to do it. I thought I might fit a new thermostat at the same time (are they simple to fit and where do you buy one - didn't notice on on Bongobits).
The temp gauge is rock steady on mine at present although it takes a little while to come up to temperature and I wonder if the thermostat is tired (mind you if it was stuck open would the temp gauge stay as steady as it is!)
Any advice much appreciated.

I have recentley drained, flushed and refilled my cooling system and did not find it to much hassle. It took me just short of 3 hours but i must warn against relying on just the members fact sheet as its no where near as clear as down loading the coolant circuit section from repairmanuals.co.nz it costs a fiver but is worth it.if you do decide to diy it pm me your e mail address and i will send you a helping hand.
