Electric window motor replacement

Hi all searched for this but failed to see an answer

Passenger side window has packed up
Not the switch or the driver side deactivation switch
There is power at the switch and motor
Small click / clunk at motor when operating switch and it gets hot.

So I guess the motor has ceased?

Can you just replace the motor or do you replace the whole mechanism?

It seems a bit of a pig to access, assume the whole thing will slide out.

Do you have to take the whole thing out either way if even if you are replacing just the motor ?

Will the window drop down down when removed so should be wedged?

Welcome any thoughts

Thanks

Will

The motor drives can fail and can also be repaired here is a link to some instructions, they units differ between doors but they are all similar http://www.g8dhe.net/bongo%5Fimages/Sli ... placement/

Thanks for the reply and info shared, the images in your link look completely different to the existing ones, which are big metal cased ,things a bit like mini AFT motors.

Are you saying you can swap the whole motor and drive for a generic one as per your image?

I need to get the dead one out either way so will reassess.

Cheers,

Will

Ah my error, I was thinking of the door lock motors, your referring to the actual window motors! Those are normally pretty rugged but it could be the brushes or just if not more likely a jammed mechanical mechanism in the scissor jacks that lift the glass up and down see here https://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/ ... mgno=.html
replacements are available but https://www.ebay.ie/itm/377026612779 but well worth checking to make sure its not a jammed mechanism first!

Thanks, got it out, the motor is good, bit it seems to be permanently being driven by the auto switch on the driver side so electrical unpickling required!

Might just order a new driver side switch

Thanks again.
