Hi all

No glow plug light but diesel starts like a dream? Is it just the bulb in the dash that's gone? How do I fix.

Thanks

Think it would be super-unusual for the dash bulb to blow. Have you checked fuses and relays for the glow plug system?

In this summer weather, the beast will start without glowplugs for sure.

If you suspect the dash bulb, you could try running the diagnostics by pinning the ECU (carefully of course) - that should flash the glow plug light to generate any fault codes, thereby checking the bulb.

Thanks. Will give that a go. The light doesn't come on at all - even if you give it time.

The Glowplug timing lamp, doesn't actually indicate that the glowplugs are working or not, its a simple timing lamp driven from the ECU when first switched on after the timing period then it becomes the fault indication light again driven by the ECU as a Flashing light.
As such the glowplugs and ECU have different fusing arrangements, which I doubt is the problem as you would be suffering other ECU related problems.
You either need to change the lamp, simplest option or check to see if there is a voltage being applied to the lamp itself which is likely to involve getting to the lamp itself to attach probes!

When you say lamp, do you mean the bulb and it's housing behind the display?

Thanks

Thanks. All fixed. Bulb had been removed. Obviously to cover up a flashing glow light. This to then cleared by itself but has now come back due to some DIy wiring to run the interior bits off the main battery with no key in ignition. Something I plan to reverse but will start a new thread!
