Hi,

New Bongo owner here.

I know this topic has been brought up many times before, but I have searched the forum and can't seem to find the answer to my specific problem.

I have recently purchased a Bongo (2006 model) and the previous Japanese owner had fitted a Pioneer Carrozzeria AVIC-MRZ66 GPS/audio system which I want to replace. I have pulled out the unit from the dashboard to have a peek at the wiring behind (please see attachments below.

I want to replace it with another audio unit, probably something more simple (not really bothered about GPS).
I have read on a few post I probably need a wiring harness. Not sure which one I need though. Looking at my existing wiring do I need to change or modify anything else?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

You need to follow the wiring back to the original Mazda connector which has the vehicle wiring loom behind it, normally the original loom is covered in a foam wrap behind the plug. Then you will need the relevant Mazda to ISO conversion wiring - its possible that is what you already have, or at least a homemade version of it.
There are two types of adaptor depending on year;
from 1995 to around 2000/2001 it is PC2-10-4,
after 2000/2001 it becomes a PC2-78-4

both types are available on ebay,
