Hey folks, Happy New Year to y’all.. ga question re the Banjo filter.

I’ve a ‘98 Diesel Auto and have suffered some engine cut outs at low speed recently, I’ve gone the simple route, first cleaned the filler cap to ensure it’s breathing okay, now looking at the Banjo filter, however, mine doesn’t appear to have the gauze filter (or spring) installed.
My question is, should it.?
Do they all have a filter there, has mine been ‘tinkered’ with.?

Its often been reported that there isn't a filter present, I suspect that some get damaged when extracted other maybe never fitted possibly depending on date etc. Not sure that there available to buy either.

Thanks Geoff.
Yes I’d seen a few messages saying similar, just wondered if there was a definitive answer.
Having cast an eye around mine more carefully, it seems it was likely air being sucked in via the deteriorating fuel line that was causing my pain.
Fitted a new pipe and it’s running nicely again.
Should have known better, I had similar with a Suzuki motorsickle a few years back where the vacuum was being lost so the CV carb valve wasn’t staying open and it’d only run briefly.
Thanks again.
