Japanese Auto Locators (JAL), importers & converters of Mazda Bongos and other grey imports, have announced that they are going to attempt to beat the land speed record for a motorhome in a souped-up 500 bhp Honda Stepwagon.

I've done some research. According to the Guiness Book of Records the record is currently 141.3 mph (227 km/h) in a converted Fiat Diablo on 21/10/14. The driver was Simon Roberts.
As far as I can make out the unverified record for a Bongo as recorded by a French radar gun in 2003 is 138 km/h, see https://www.automotiveforums.com/t12140 ... ecord.html
I took my old V6 Bongo up to 88 mph once but it developed severe steering shake so I eased off.
