Freda front grill safety mesh projectile protection

I thought I would share something with the members here. The Freda has very large openings between slats on the front grill, more so than the Bongo. Good for anti rust access on the top of the front/sides of cross member but less protection for expensive and exposed parts.
When driving on the M4 a while back something flew up from a 4 wheel lorry, from at least 100M in front of me, looked like a bolt as it shot into the front of the van. Luckily no damage.
That Air con condenser in front of the rad is £800.00 at one place for info value !
If that had hit the air con condensor or even worse the rad that could spell BIG trouble and expense.
So I have purchased some aluminium mesh from Amazon, one roll not quite enough. So you are looking at £20.00 with some cable ties.
I just had a little look and the material is tidy enough (for me anyway) to put a layer on the top slats on the outside of the grill and then
a layer lower down on the inside of the grill.
Type "Supernic Car Grille Mesh 4x8mm 40X13 inch Aluminium Car Racing Grill Net Vent Tuning Durable Honeycomb Mesh Grille for Car " into Amazon and you will see the product I ordered. In fact I ordered a £12.00 roll first and this one second.
I am likely to use cable ties and possibly strong nylon fishing line to fix it on.
Hope this saves someone some money.
