Timing belt noise
Hello everyone,
Looking for advise on this noise from the timing belt. Is it just a simple readjustment and new belt or something more terminal.

Many thanks in advance

Geoff,
Yeh sorry miss named the belt. Any ideas on the noise emanating from the area looks like the pulley is moving, causing the noise.
Cheers

Not being a mechanic I wouldn't like to guess! When we listen to the recording its only a mono track so we can't identify where the sound is coming from, only you can do that, if the pulleys aren't loose then it really needs a mechanics view point who knows the particular sounds!

Re: Timing belt noise
Geoff,
I agree after a little more research and looking at movement i pretty sure its the crank shaft pulley.
Ill get her to a garage to confirm.
Anyone have a rough idea how much a garage would charge to replace. I can see them for sale for anywhere from 70 to 150 depending age of the pulley.

The rattle changes with revs.

Re: Timing belt noise
The pulley is a rubber bonded multi piece job. It is coming apart. It's hitting the front of the engine so don't run it .....

Re: Timing belt noise
Just to update i had the crank pulley replaced and shes running without the noise now. When the old one came off the rubber had degraded and it fell into 2 bits. Cheers for the advice all.
