Bongo Fury

Hello all
I’ve got a bit of a problem with my Gearbox.
I have a 2002 Aero pop top 2.5 Diesel and when cold will not take off in D(rive) but will in L(ow). I can then put straight into D and it will carry on happily unless I stop at a junction and then I need to knock it back to L to take off. After it warms up a bit (2 minutes or so) all is normal again.

When I bought Minty the gearbox seemed a bit weird on the drive home so I decided to replace fluid and clean filter and ever since have had these problems.
I have checked fluid level in P after a 20 minute run with engine running after cycling through gears - any ideas?

I have read through all postings that I could find and on one someone mentioned ‘nipping up the drive belts’ does that sound like it might be it?

Anyway, any help would be most welcome.

Oh and I’m normally in Weston-super-Mare but this week I’m in Suffolk and Norfolk.

Hi, I'm no expert, but I can’t see 'nipping up the drive belts' helping.

ADS, Ashton, are pretty good with Bongos, but an auto box specialist should be able to help.

Yup, the drive belts don't affect the gearbox at all.

Hello again, I’ve just found I misquoted mikeWalsall from 2012 - it was ‘nipping up the bands’ sorry, not belts.

I popped into my local Auto gear box specialist recently .. (all they do is auto boxes no engine or general car repairs) ..

A fluid change on my Bongo would be £60 (+vat @20%) .. I assume that was a simple 'suck out of the dipstick tube' job ... when I asked how much for a full sump off service including filters .. nipping up the bands etc:, that price 'shot up' to £150 (+vat @20%)...!!

It’s a lot more work.

Not the same sort of automatic gearbox I'm afraid! These don't have ANY bands to nip up!
