Low fuel warning light, if fitted,where is it

Post by ChrisQ » Sat Feb 17, 2024 2:24 pm

I’ve had my Bongo 14 years, and a low fuel warning light has never been an issue until now.
Last week had to take my son to hospital and the fuel gauge was near empty, and it was a buttock clenching drive to the hospital in High Wycombe ( 15 miles from where I live)
I got there ok and and when refuelled it took 59 litres implying I had 6 litres left .
I’ve done a search in this site, and can’t make out when they were fitted ( if at all), some people seem to have them, others don’t.
Mine is a 2.0 lt AFT facelift model GF-SGE3 from 2000.
If fitted, where on the dashboard is the indicator light?
Not mentioned in handbook, and no obvious light when I switch on the ignition.
Probably never get caught in this situation again , but it was very early in the morning and no fuel stations open on the way in, but was able to fill up for the journey home, but don’t ever want to be in this situation again.

The wiring Manuals for May 1995 do not show it at all. However by November 1997 release of the Manuals it is shown as being present, the precise date when it was added is unknown however!
Its located on the light panel top right of the dashboard;

Been there, very worrying indeed.

Since then I tend to fill up when the gauge gets near the 1/4.

Been grateful when there’s supply problems, too.

Thanks g8dhe, Just used a torch at an oblique angle and have found the indicator, though I don’t intend to use it in the future.
My “owners manual” is the translation from JPNZ International Ltd, 1995-2000, but does not mention this. I have annotated my copy accordingly.
