Bongo Fury

Returning from a weekend trip and the low coolant alarm started. (10 minutes from home). I was able to park up safely and had a look under the bonnet. There was still a fair amount of coolant in the expansion bottle so I topped it up and found there was a tiny leak from the top of the radiator where the plastic joins the metal.
Without the LCA I would not have known and hopefully no damage has been done, just the radiator to be replaced.
Second time this year the LCA has saved the day!

Hi folks, do you recommend this alarm and do you carry replacement coolant with you when travelling? I’m a newbie and keen to avoid any mishaps.

I've never fitted an alarm on our V6's after speaking with Haydn at our first Bash, only had two coolant problems one a radiator split problem and the other a burst top hose, despite having to keep going on both occasions for a few minutes no damage and topped up with water as necessary until a full fix was possible on both occasions. Only modification on my first vehicle was to make the temperature gauge read linearly so that the you could see a change, however on both occasions it was steam emanating from the bonnet that flagged the problem!

Definitely , as Bob has said it saved his day, re coolant, water is ok in an emergency.
