New Member from Ireland
Hello everyone im new to the forum! Forgive me if i put this in the wrong section:D
Im a proud Bongo owner with over two years in Ireland. I have been ordering parts from England to carry out the maintenance, however this has become too expensive! Parts over here are non existent it seems. My question is do you guys know part numbers that i can use in my local motor factors?? I looked at the part list in the members area (which is very informative) but i can't used these part numbers in my motor factors.
Anybody in Ireland have the same issue?
Anyway thanks in advance! And i look forward to a few adventures

Hi BongoTippMan, welcome to the forum!
What kind of parts are you looking for exactly? There's the shop on here that you will get a discount on if you're a club member.

Thanks a million!
Id be looking for an Oil, Air and Fuel filter.
Front pads and Discs
Timing belt kit with water pump
Thermostat
Like i said i used get parts sent over from mazdabongo.com but custom charges has made it very expensive.
Im a signed up member so i think i have the discount in the shop
Surely there are part numbers that cross reference and can be bought in Ireland?
Is there much of a Bongo scene in Ireland? I do see a few on my travels

You can try the on-line parts diagrams, it gives the original Mazda part numbers in the table top left, just click on the diagram# and the table will open and the first column is the Mazda part number, you can then use this to Google for relevant sites https://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/

Warm welcome.
Re: New Member from Ireland
Certainly the filters etc can be got from any motor factors, they normally can look it up if you bring in the old one.

Thanks for the replies!
I had a good look in the members area and found the parts list My local factors had everything in stock except for the waterpump, thats coming in on Monday! Il change the Timing Belt next weekend. I had a good look through the bleeding procedure so wish me best of luck
We have a pressure bleeder in work that sucks out all the air and fires in new coolant! I wonder if i modified the cap to suit the Bongo coolant bottle would that work. It literally takes 60seconds to fill and bleed coolant in work
Has anyone tried this?

Yes vacuum filling is normally the best way of re-filling a Bongo as it minimises the trapped air in the engine, but do still take the time to squeeze all the hoses and let the engine run for a while whilst watching the coolant level carefully.

Ya the most important thing is to not have any air in the pipes and the vacuum sorts that! I actually have a spare coolant cap so i can saulder a fitting on top of it to accept the hose
Hopefully it might do the trick. Once the bottom hose is hot and i have hot air out my vents i should be ok?

Only thing to be aware of is if the hoses are old then when they collapse they may split and release coatings which can block things up, ideal if your changing the hoses for new ones obviously.

Oh ya thats true! The vacuum would split a old hose easily. Il have a good look at them before i attempt it Do you know roughly how much coolant the Bongo takes? Is there any need to put sealer on the water pump or is the gasket provided ok?

I've never heard of anyone using sealant of any sort! Remember the system is PRESSURISED by the heat of the engine, its not like the usual system which works at normal air pressure with an overflow bottle. There is no overflow, the tank at the top is a de-gassing tank to allow any gases to collect at the top and not to be circulated around.
The coolant is 13 litres see here for all consumables http://www.g8dhe.net/bongo_images/mazda ... ttings.htm

*Update*
I eventually got around to carrying out the work on the Bongo today Everything with smooth apart from a caliper bolt that stripped threads! ( Luckily i was able to clean and retap the caliper) The bleeding process was a piece of cake with the 3 part video provided here I took her for a lovely spin up the Vee to make sure all was good. Id suggest anyone traveling around South Tipperary in Ireland to check it out its a beautiful part of the world!
Now that i have her mechanically sound im looking to add a few comforts. Any info on the following would be great.
# A faica for a double din android stereo, are they all standard sizeing? I have a standard stereo at the minute
# Is anyone selling a MK 2 center armrest? I hear there are bolt in?
# Can i swap out my heater controls with the digital one?
