Novice Bongo 2ltr owner here. Mystified by these electrical things all along the base of windscreen. They're different in shape but seem to be inter-connected.The guy at the garage where I bought it from said they were part of the Japanese Sat Nav system but I'm not convinced. Anyone any ideas what they are? Would it be okay to have them taken out? There's 2 other shaped boxes also as well as these in photos.

VICS = Vehicle Information and Communication System. It's a Japanese system for traffic info etc. The little one looks like a gps receiver.
Follow the wires back and see if they are still connected to anything.

Thanks for the response. I'll probabaly get an auto electrician to investigate and take them out if they're of no purpose.

Open the doors and see if you can see the cable routed from under the screen and down behind glove box. That's the easiest way I found to get cable up onto top of dashboard. Then follow cable - probably goes somewhere behind the head unit.

Some times the ones in that corner are connected to the headlights and automatically dim them when it sees the brake lights of the car in-front shining, they normally have a small adjustment wheel on the side, the headlight wiring loom has access built into it for these devices, quite common in Japan.
