Bongo Fury

Hi guys I'm new to this I have a 1995 ford freda and needs advice I have taking on a little trip last weekend and had a bit of a problem, I got stuck in a traffic jam but after that the van went weird it seems to be stuck in 2nd or 3rd and won't change up or down so revs are high when driving around 3 thou at 40mph but a bit later got to a corner and needed to reverse and no reverse gear this was all fine before traffic jam I have to switch engine off to get to go backwards but only in reverse gear neutral seems to be locked , also when engine on gear selecter is in drive when in in neutral ,drive, s mode and low range
I'm new to freda and bongos but I'm good mechanic but even this has flunked me all usual checks done but don't know any advice please

You might find that there is a problem with the selector cable perhaps ? There are parts diagrams available on-line here, choose year etc and then drill down into the relevant parts http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/
