Bongo roof issue

Im new to the group and the bongo itself and wondering if anyone could help. I have a 96 model friendlie. The roof had been working ok. It sometimes needed a little help when going up or down and this may have been due to missing bolts that i replaced. Recently on a trip i couldnt get the roof down. Did all the trouble shooting i could find online but didnt fix it. Had to get breakdown out who also didnt have a clue. Took it to a garage who service bongos they couldnt fix it. They confirmed the motors are working fine. They think it might be an electrical fault but they would need to rip everything out to find the issue and they dont want to touch it. I was looking to do some further trouble shooting to see if i can resolve before seeing if i can find a garage who will look at it. When i originally took the roof control switch out to check the wiring there was two wires connected. However i found a third wire in the roof space which looked as if it may have meant to be connected. Can i check how many wires are meant to be connected to the switch? Ive included a picture of how it is just now. Is this correct?. Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome aboard!

Yes there should be three wires connected ! A common Green wire, and an Up and a Down Red/Blue & Red/White signals to the unit as below;

The pins are shown on the diagrams below M2-02 in this case.
