2l 1998 ford freda aft window help

Post by fordfreda90 » Fri Aug 05, 2022 6:02 pm

Evening everyone I'm requiring a little technical help, having window issues so I have fixed the snapped wire in door loom and replaced the faulty driver switch, now its developing more problems,

So inside the door is the connector block for the window switch, down to the right there is a small connector block and far right is another connector, so my question i had a spur taken from the small connector to the right plug.

So there was a block in to the window connector which plugged in to the switch with a spur to the small connector

So bottom pic is the switch
Middle pic is the small block that the spur is taken off of
Top is the connector that joined to the switch with the spur to small connector

Any help appreciated cheers mike

So what is the problem your having ?
Why did you need to run a spur from the other connector ? What is its purpose ?

Right there are several un-used connectors, primarily for the optional remote fob and central door locking which were both options.
Below is the actual power windows circuit and loom connections.

The central locking is simply a change-over switch on the keylock, which moves +12v between the two contacts, the two contacts go back to the control module in the passenger footwell where the circuit operates the solenoids on the other doors.

There is no circuit diagram given for the Remote fob in the diagrams at all so its not clear its a single module, taking power from one of the connectors and drives the local solenoid in the drivers door directly.
