Lower ball joint nut

Post by phil 1 » Fri Jul 29, 2022 2:19 pm

Hi,
I have fitted a brand new genuine Mazda wishbone which doesn't come supplied with a new castellated nut!. I destroyed my one removing it from the old wishbone 😤. So van off the road until a new nut is sourced. I ordered a pair from Mazdabongo.com which says they are direct replacements and the picture on the website looks identical to the one I removed. However the nut I have received is twice the height of the originals which makes fitting a nightmare as there is very little room due to the ABS ring. When I finally managed to thread it on and torque it to correct setting there is a thread protruding from the top of the nut so impossible to fit a split pin!.
I have messaged Mazdabongo.com how say that they have sold hundreds of these nuts and they are unaware of any fitment issues.
So has anyone else had problems with the nuts from mazdabongo.com? or is it just me 😃.
I have been forced to cut the nut in half to get it to fit so I can get the van back on the road.

Probably the reason that the nut was hitting the ring (whilst trying to fit ) is the fact that the ball joint was fully fitted to the knuckle (protruding too much) to start with.

part No for nut.

That's exactly what the issue was however the old nut was removed easily (once i finely loosened it) with the ball joint still fully fitted.
The main issue was once the new nut was fitted and torqued up there is no way to fit the split pin as nothing pertruding.
Thanks for the part number however I have already contacted my local Mazda dealer and apparently there's no stock in Europe!.
