Hello All,
I would be interested to hear from anyone with a 2.5 diesel with a head or coolant mounted temperature gauge what readings are normally seen when going on the flat, long uphill and long downhill please.

In short... Winter 89C and summer 93C averages. Can hit 97c - 100C for a very short time on a long climb
using a temp sensor on the back of the head.

I installed a coolant level alarm for added peace of mind. It was simple to install. Two hours with tea breaks. You can find it on ebay without issues.
I also installed an 80p resistor from Maplins at the rear of the dashboard to increase the accuracy of the temperature measurement. It's a little more difficult, but it's still just around an hour's effort. A soldering iron is required.

There or there abouts, sometimes if you park it up in the summer the temperature will go up past 100° setting off the temperature alarm but it'll come down very quickly once you get moving again

It is likely to go down a bit downhill... a bit, maybe 5C ona 1-2miles downhill... but not excessively.. Afterall the engine must of got hot going up and then you are barely using any diesel or revs going down... but are getting radiator wind rush cooling the circulating water.

If all is well and you should run with temps between 82 and 92C …….up big hills or towing loads then up to 100C
