2litre petrol engine oil loss

Post by HuwandAngharad » Sat Jun 25, 2022 3:40 pm

Hello.
My Silvie is using a litre of engine oil every time I fill up the petrol tank. There doesn't seem to be any visible oil leak from the engine itself. Where else could the engine oil go? Can it get burned up internally? I've noticed that when the engine is warm and has been idilling for a while say at traffic lights, when I pull away there is a small cloud of blue smoke coming from the exhaust. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

What colour is the tailpipe internal, that should give you a clue.

Blue smoke can mean you're burning oil. Here's general ( non bongo specific but useful) advice re blue smoke https://www.firestonecompleteautocare.c ... elling-me/#

Don't know what a silvie is but I reckon your motor is worn out as you're definitely burning this oil.
