Bongo Fury

I think the battery has finally had it, mostly through lack of use recently.

I need one to keep us going but don't want to spend a fortune, I've seen one which is a 335

It just isn't quite as high on the amps as the last one but I believe they are measured differently now so not sure if it compares.

The new batteries all seem to give a C20 or C100 rating. I've found out what they mean but I can't find anything that lets me know what the old battery would have used or how it could compare.

My old battery was a 249.

I believe that 335 and 249 are identical in size and terminal layout.

The one I'm looking at is a 335.

Will that be ok for our 2.5TD?

Just found that 770CCA is equivalent to about 700EN

So it would still be a bit less at 630EN but not as far off.

Anyone got experience of it is enough?

Batteries have a capacity typically 95AmpHours when discharged at the 20 Hour rate the C20 - 95 AmpHours is a good capacity for a diesel.
They also need to supply current at a high rate for the starter motor hence the Cold Cranking Amps - the amount of current they can supply in a short burst 800 Amps is a good idea for a diesel.
The 335 is just a number in a table that defines the physical size and orientation of the battery and terminals. Quite a few different 3 digit numbers will fit the Bongo.

They do but the decent price ones seem a little under capacity

No the figures I quoted are typical of good batteries, if you go for a smaller set of parameters then it will have a shorter life, a great set of values a longer life. A Bosch S4 335 has a 4 year warranty, an S5 a 5 year warranty, you will need to to choose around those figures and the warranty period to find something that suits the budget you want to spend.
