Wheel arches cost to replace

Post by jaskat » Wed May 11, 2022 7:38 pm

Hi All
Theres lots of posts on the above but little on the cost people have paid.
Following a recent quote Im desperate for some guidance. For both inner and outer wheel arches I was quoted an estimate of £2400
Anybody paid that amount on here. It was a specialist bongo place that does these repairs all the time very well Im told
I understand the job is time consuming but Im so out of touch with costs for this sort of work and just need some reassurance before committing myself to getting the work done. Thanks

I think most use Mercedes Sprinter arches...quick search on eBay....

Likely need x4 to also create inner wing - parts are cheap, but it could be quite tricky work, especially if lots of rot on your van. Is it an MoT failure issue??

So you need to ask if they are using these (or similar), and then try understand the labour costs.

Seems a lot of money and effort for an old motor.

You also need to consider the time it takes to remove the interior before they can start welding - otherwise the Bongo will be toast. £2,400 doesn’t sound to bad give the work involved to be honest. If you’re looking for cheaper alternative get some fibre glass repair stuff and do it yourself. Just depends on the finish you’re after. Is the Bongo a keeper or are you just tidying it up for its last few years?

£2,400.00 !!! - if ever there was a need to reinvigorate interest in swift and early rust repair... it's that. :(

I have a good mind to grind them down to close to bare metal and POR 15 them irrelevant what it looks like after. Crikey.....are they replaced with solid gold ones ?

That sounds about the price for both sides and respray. You only need two replacements its only single skinned;

Ouch. That does sound a lot if it's just arches. You don't necessarily need a Bongo specialist. A really good body shop should be able to do it. You could look for recommendations in your local area.
