Key snapped off in door, how do i remove?

Post by jen.donkin » Thu Mar 17, 2022 6:48 pm

Hi

I've tried to search and can't get the words right to find anything relevant.

We got our first bongo last month and the previous owners snapped a key off in the sliding door. Its snapped or cut off so far down you cannot see it and the little metal catch bit slides back over. It was on the list of things to fix but today jumped to the top when i realised you can just put any key slightly into the lock, even a few mm, and the door unlocks.

Does anyone know how i can get the lock cylinder out of the door? And i guess wd40 the hell out of it and hope i can pull out whats left!

thanks!

Does the information here and in the other posts by 'g8dhe' help? viewtopic.php?p=717497&hilit=Lock+Remov%2A#p717551
Allan's closed. We recommend PGS (Plymouth Garage Services) or Mayflower Auto Services in Plymouth.

Thank you both! I've brought it to work today and managed to get the key chamber out of the door, a colleague of mine trained as a locksmith many moons ago so i have left it with him for the afternoon to see if he can get the remnants of the old key out of it! Fingers crossed :)

Bob that is a very kind offer, hopefully i am sorted but will comment again if any problems!

Could you please tell me how did you or your friend sort that out? My daughter broke a key and a piece of it still remains in the lock
