Engine woes

HELP: tried to find a fix whatever is causing my speedo and rev meter to jump around yesterday. This includes making sure battery terminals were clean and tight. This morning when turning the ignition on (engine off) the glow plugs light gives a flash (sometimes once, sometimes 3 times) and the engine fan kicks in. All the warning lights on the dash remain on and it doesn’t want to start. Any advice?! Have checked everything reattached to batteries ok.

Is there any back story to this, has it been in for repair at all recently, have you had it long, has it been parked up for a period ?
It sounds very much like an electrical fault. You've checked the battery terminals, have you cleaned all the fuse blades (the 100 Amp on the terminal arm is bolted in don't try to prise it out!).

Hi Geoff, yes I think it’s definitely an electric issue. I’ve posted about the speedo and rev meter previously and you suggested checking earthing point 7. I can’t seem to find a way in to the location - see attached. Do I just pull out the plastic at the end? It seems quite well attached and I don’t want to break it!
We’ve disconnected and reconnected the battery again and double checked the earth for that. It seemed fine but the fan and engine not starting problem has resolved itself but the glow plug light is still flickering so I’m dubious.

Yes that's the panel, its been along time since I had mine off and can't remember the precise actions to get it off now!
Yes no screws shown in the diagrams as below parts 64-911B & 64-911X on the diagram below;

You might check underneath the dashboard but as I recall its very crowded area to see what's what, the wiring will certainly come in from underneath but I can't recall the exact positions of the earth tags.

Follow the Black earth wires ?

The thin black wires? They just go up into the door frame and are attached to a mini speaker-type thing that I presume was part of a previous owner’s hands-free kit.
We’re back to square one now with the engine not turning on at all, I’m thinking whatever electrical fault it has is now linked to the immobiliser as the engine just makes no attempt at starting. I’m going to have to admit defeat and find a garage for the RAC to take it to.

Ah OK, in the Mazda wiring looms Black are earth/chassis connections hence seeing the Black wires makes me look for the multi-earth connector that is usually used.
