Hello all

Anyone know of a mechanic in Dublin Ireland familiar in dealing with repairing bongos?

Timing belt went on our bongo nearly 2 months ago and our usual mechanic can’t get it going. It’s a 2L petrol so is a non interference engine but for whatever reason can’t get her started. We gave him the image describing the install of the belt and still no joy. My wife and I have invested so much into our bongo and just want it up and running again. Please help if you can. Thanks

Hi, did your mechanic check the compressions after the belt was fitted? , this is a run of the mill engine you should be able to get a mechanic to check it out.

Not sure to be honest. He’s looked after all of our vehicles for years and been reliable so I trust him. But we’re kinda stuck with him trying multiple times and attempts to get the belt running. Unless something else is not working. ??!!

Hi,is the engine actually turning over with the starter ? if so a compression test would not go wrong. Is the vehicle in a motor trade garage ..

I read that the 2 ltr needs to be set by number 2 cylinder - 1/3/4 doesn’t work.

Yeah he tried that and still no joy. Regarding the compression test I’m not sure to be honest. He’s done loads of more complex work on other cars of ours and always got it done without fail. So still. So not sure where to go from here
