I've stained my awning!

Post by JimLad » Thu Nov 11, 2021 11:11 am

Hi, I've got a pull out awning installed on the side of my Bongo, and I've managed to stain the inside with orange marks because I didn't dry it properly before storing. (Yes I'm an idiot  )
I wonder if anyone has any advice on how to remove the stains?
Here are some images:

It's made from 420D Oxford Polyester apparently.
I got it from this website:

Many thanks!

Have you tried simply washing it with water and a stiff brush, or add some washing up liquid to help shift it ? After that there are some propriety cleaners available try a google search for "awning cleaners".

Thank you for the response, just to update:
I tried scrubbing it to death with washing up liquid/brush.
I tried Fenwick's awning cleaner from Amazon.
I tried diluted bleach on a small area.
I even tried a small amount undiluted bleach.
Nothing has budged it at all. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I really have no idea what these stains are. If it was some sort of mould the bleach would have killed it.
It almost looks like kind of luminous rust marks, but there's literally nothing in the awning that it could have come from, it's practically brand new.

Anyway I'll probably just leave it at this point. Unless anyone knows of any magical potion I could try.

Doesn't sound like anything organic then and nothing to rust in the Fiamma awnings.
Maybe in the material or some contamination from paint or something :-(
